Yes, it can seem overwhelming to think about all the details required for your Will. But with Safewill, the process doesn’t have to be stressful. We split your details into manageable chunks which you can work through at your own pace. So relax, sit back, and enjoy the peace of mind from securing your future wishes in the comfort of your own home. In the meantime, here's a step-by-step checklist of what you'll need to type in; made so simple you can even skim through mid Netflix binge:

  1. List of all your assets

This includes everything from pets to property, family heirlooms to financial accounts, and everything in between. Your Will gives you the opportunity to share who you’d like to distribute these amongst, so it’s important to cover everything.

2. Details of the beneficiaries

Once you’ve specified who you want to inherit your assets, it's important to ensure they’re identifiable and contactable when the time comes. Make a clear list of the names and contact information of the people or organisations you wish to distribute your assets amongst.

3. Details of Executor

Choose someone who you trust to manage the distribution of your assets and handle any legal issues that may arise. It can be a lawyer or someone close to you, but either way it's also important to establish this relationship and share your wishes with them at this stage.

3. Details of guardian for minor children

If you have minor children, you’ll need to appoint a trusted guardian to care for them in the event of your death. For your Will, we’ll need the name and contact details of this person. So for filling in this section, it’s important to think about who this could be and how you might navigate that conversation with them.

4. Specified funeral wishes

Your will offers an important chance to specify your funeral and burial arrangements so that your send off is aligned with your beliefs. At this stage, details on whether you prefer cremation or burial, and any specific requests for your service will be noted on your will.

Making changes:

With an online Will, you have the flexibility to input the information at your own pace. It’s also easier to make adjustments and additions, if things change along the way. So whilst the above covers the foundations of what we’ll need, also know that there's flexibility to change from the comfort of your own home at any point.
