How can I include a charity in my will?

  1. A percentage of your estate in the Estate Module

You can divide up your estate as you like across your loved ones or charities of your choice. No legacy is too small, and even keeping 99% of your estate for your family, and designating as little as 1% to a charity can make a significant impact. Allowing your legacy to change lives which continue after your gone.

2. An amount of money or specific assets in the Gifts Module

Alternatively, you can leave a specified sum of money or specific asset of value to your chosen charity. This can include property, shares, jewellery or works of art.

Can I leave gifts to multiple organisations?

Safewill makes it possible to leave gifts to the multiple organisations you might like to support. This can be for specific gifts of identifiable assets left to assigned beneficiaries, or for residuary estate gifts of any leftover estate after payment of all other debts, taxes and gifts have been distributed. You can choose either or both gifts, as well as single or multiple organisations to distribute amongst!

Who should I discuss my charitable gift with?

Firstly, talking to your loved ones about your charitable intentions is important to ensure these wishes are carried out. It’s also extremely beneficial to notify charities of a gift in your will. This allows them to make the best use of your donation, by allocating budgets and planning ahead, as well as allowing them to reach out and give thanks for the gift.

Many charities have a legacy or bequest society, which makes up an integral part of their organisation’s culture and community. It can be incredibly rewarding to be apart of this, and see the legacy your leftover estate will contribute to.
